WTE Wassertechnik GmbH has won first place in two categories at the prestigious Asian Water Awards. The Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Plant that we realised has been awarded both the ‘Water Company Excellence Award – Kuwait’ and the ‘Sustainable Water Infrastructure Award – Kuwait’.
The Umm Al Hayman Wastewater Treatment Plant, as one of the largest and most advanced wastewater treatment plants in the world, has ‘set new benchmarks in sustainability, water recycling and environmental protection,’ according to the Asian Water Awards. The project demonstrates WTE’s 30 years of experience in the field of wastewater treatment plants and underlines the company’s commitment to innovation, resource conservation and climate protection.
The philosophy of ‘closing the water cycle’ was particularly praised, which is of crucial importance in a country like Kuwait with only low precipitation. Thanks to state-of-the-art processes, the plant is designed to treat wastewater to such a high standard that it becomes a valuable resource that can be reused for agricultural irrigation and industrial applications.
We are delighted to receive this prestigious award, which recognises our commitment to sustainability and innovative water management.
Congratulations and thank you to the entire team in Germany and Kuwait for their outstanding work on the project!

In the elegant ‘Ballroom’ of the hotel, Achim Dudey and Dr Axel Bowmann accepted the two awards on behalf of WTE.
