WTE develops state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant in North Macedonia – with 150 per cent green energy coverage!
In April 2023, the contract signing for the project Skopje in North Macedonia project took place. WTE will realise the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant for 650,000 PE with advanced sewage sludge treatment, setting new standards for environmental protection in the region. For the first time in South-East Europe, a plant will be implemented in accordance with the latest European standards. The official launch took place on 25 May 2023.
Of particular significance is the overall energy concept: here, electricity is produced from biogas, steam and photovoltaics. WTE is therefore not only creating a wastewater treatment plant and a sewage sludge mono incineration plant, but a “Green Energy Power Plant” with 150% “Green Energy” coverage! With this important contribution, WTE is defining even higher standards for sustainable action with regards to wastewater treatment, sewage sludge utilisation and overall efficiency. In doing so, we are continuing our vision of understanding and utilising wastewater as a resource. Because WTE looks towards the future, works on new solutions and faces up to new challenges.
