At the beginning of October, the EVN/WTE Group handed over three wastewater Treatment plants in the Salaj County, Romania.
The Salaj County belongs to Transylvania and is situated in the North-West of Romania in the outskirts of the Transylvanian Basin. The capital City is Zalau (in German: “Zillermarkt”).
The main contractor assignment covered the detailed planning including all statutory filings, the turn-key construction as well as the commissioning and the subsequent trial operation of the tree wastewater plants for one year.
The project – with an investment volume of more than EUR 11 million – was financed by the European Cohesion Fund.
The wastewater treatment plant Simleu Silvaniei is designed for wastewater with a capacity of 13,200 population equivalents (PE), the plant in Jibou for 11,400 PE, and the smallest one is situated in Cehu Silvaniei and is designed for 5,400 PE. By the simultaneous award of all three contracts and the parallel implementation of the plants synergistic effects could be exploited and costs could be saved.
All three wastewater treatment plants have been implemented in accordance with European Standards. The process technology of the three plants substantially consists of a mechanical prepurification, a 2-line activated sludge stage including simultaneous sludge stabilization as well as a sludge dewatering by means of decanters and sludge-drying beds.
Besides the directors of the operating company Compania de Apa Somes SA (Employer), the mayors of all three municipalities Simleu Silvaniei, Jibou and Cehu Silvaniei as well as the president of the County Council, Mr. Tiberiu Marc, took part in the ceremony of the handover.
With a total of now six projects, the EVN/WTE group has successfully entered the Romanian market.
