The client enercity Contracting GmbH has commissioned sludge2energy GmbH – a joint venture of Huber SE and WTE Wassertechnik GmbH – with the construction of a sewage sludge mono-incineration plant in Hannover-Lahe.
30,000 t
dry matter
130,000 t
dewatered municipal sewage sludge
10,57 MW
fuel heat output
Regular operation of the plant, in which approx. 130,000 tonnes of dewatered municipal sewage sludge (approx. 30,000 tonnes of dry matter) will be thermally treated annually, is scheduled to start as early as the turn of the year 2022/2023.
Already during the engineering or construction of the plant, the highest priority is given to the overall energy efficiency of the plant, with which the customer enercity demonstrates a future-proof disposal route for sewage sludge with the possibility of phosphorus recovery as required by law. As general contractor, sludge2energy GmbH is responsible for the process engineering lot.
In addition, the plant contributes to the supply of the regional district heating network through the heat recovered in the process chain. Zusammengefasst bedeutet dies auch ein langfristiges Plus für unsere Umwelt, da diese Anlage viele Jahre lang einen Beitrag zum Umweltschutz leisten wird.
Environmentally friendly heat will be available for around 3,500 households in Hannover from the end of 2022.
The main process components of the plant are – in addition to a flue gas cleaning system to ensure compliance with the permissible emission limits – two RotaDry® disk dryers and the S2E fluidiser, a stationary fluidised bed furnace with a fuel heat output of approx. 10.5 MW.
